The Government of Canada is currently seeking public input on proposed amendments to the Single-Use Plastics Prohibition Regulations, a key step in reducing the environmental impact of single-use plastics.
For the F&B industry and the packaging supply chain, these changes extend beyond policy. They affect daily operations, costs, customer experience, and how realistically businesses can transition to sustainable alternatives.
As part of this consultation, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) contacted Kimecopak directly by email to request industry input. We see this as an invitation to join a broader dialogue - one that values real-world market experience alongside policy goals.

An opportunity to connect policy and practice
Listening to the F&B community
Industry-level conversations are incomplete without input from businesses that use packaging every day. Through this outreach, Kimecopak aims to gather insights on:
- Packaging formats that are difficult to replace
- Alternatives that may not yet meet performance or cost expectations
- Support needed to make sustainable transitions more achievable
These inputs are not about advocating a direction, but about building a balanced picture of how environmental objectives intersect with operational realities in foodservice.
