What Is Multi-Wall Paper Bag?
A multi wall paper bag is an industrial paper packaging solution made from multiple layers (plies) of kraft paper designed to carry dry bulk products. These bags are commonly used for powders, granules, and other free-flowing materials such as cement, chemicals, fertilizer, animal feed, and food ingredients. The multiple paper layers provide strength, puncture resistance, and stacking stability, while optional liners or coatings add moisture and barrier protection when required.

Multi Wall Paper Bag Construction and Materials
Multi wall paper bags are engineered by combining specific paper grades, ply counts, closures, and optional barriers to match the product’s weight, abrasiveness, and sensitivity to moisture.
Multi Wall Paper Bag Ply Count
2 ply vs 3 ply vs 4 ply vs 5 ply vs 6 ply multi wall paper bag
Ply count refers to the number of paper layers used in the bag construction.
A 2-ply bag is typically used for lighter products with low drop and stacking requirements.
3-ply and 4-ply bags are the most common configurations for medium-weight products, offering a balance between strength and cost.
5-ply and 6-ply bags are designed for heavy-duty applications where higher tear resistance, puncture resistance, and load-bearing strength are required, especially for abrasive or dense materials.
Sack Kraft Paper for Multi Wall Paper Bags
Sack kraft paper is the primary material used in multi wall paper bags. It is produced from long wood fibers that provide high tensile strength and durability. Sack kraft paper is specifically designed to withstand filling stress, handling, pallet stacking, and transportation without tearing or bursting.
Virgin Fiber vs Recycled Paper in Multi Wall Paper Bags
Virgin fiber paper is made from new wood pulp and offers higher strength, better elongation, and more consistent performance. It is commonly used for heavy-duty or high-risk applications.
Recycled paper contains recovered fibers and is often used for outer plies or lighter-duty bags. While more sustainable, recycled paper generally has lower strength compared to virgin fiber and must be carefully specified based on performance needs.
Multi Wall Paper Bag Coatings and Treatments
Coated vs uncoated multi wall paper bag
Uncoated multi wall paper bags rely solely on paper strength and are suitable for dry products stored in controlled environments.
Coated bags use surface treatments to improve moisture resistance, grease resistance, or abrasion resistance. Coatings help reduce paper fiber absorption but may affect recyclability depending on the coating type.
Multi Wall Paper Bag Liners
PE liner multi wall paper bag
Polyethylene (PE) liners are commonly added inside multi wall paper bags to protect products from moisture, humidity, and contamination. The liner acts as a barrier while the outer paper plies provide structural strength.
EVOH / barrier liner options (where applicable)
In applications requiring higher barrier performance, such as protection against oxygen or moisture vapor transmission, specialized liners like EVOH-based structures may be used. These options are selected only when product sensitivity demands enhanced barrier protection.
Laminated Multi Wall Paper Bag Structures
Paper + film laminate for moisture barrier (when required)
Laminated multi wall paper bags combine paper layers with a thin film layer to improve moisture resistance. This structure is used when products are sensitive to humidity or when storage and transport conditions are less controlled. Laminated structures improve protection but may complicate recycling.
Types of Multi Wall Paper Bag by Closure and Filling Method
The closure and filling method determine how the bag is filled, sealed, and handled in production environments.

Sewn Open Mouth Multi Wall Paper Bag
SOM multi wall paper bag overview
Sewn open mouth bags are filled through an open top and closed by sewing after filling. They are commonly used in flexible production lines and manual or semi-automatic filling systems.
Gravity filling vs compression filling
Gravity filling allows material to fall naturally into the bag and is suitable for free-flowing products. Compression filling applies force during filling, requiring stronger paper construction to withstand internal pressure.
Pasted Valve Multi Wall Paper Bag
Valve bag multi wall paper bag for high-speed filling
Valve bags are designed for automated, high-speed filling systems. Product enters through a valve opening and fills the bag from the inside.
Self-sealing valve behavior
As the bag fills, internal pressure causes the valve to close automatically, eliminating the need for sewing or additional sealing in many applications.
Pinch Bottom / Pinch Top Multi Wall Paper Bag
Pinch bottom and pinch top bags are closed using adhesive-based pinching rather than sewing. This closure provides a cleaner appearance and better dust control, making it suitable for food and specialty products.
Open Mouth Pasted (OMP) Multi Wall Paper Bag
Open mouth pasted bags are filled from the top and sealed using adhesive instead of sewing. This method improves sealing consistency and reduces fiber contamination compared to sewn closures.
Flat vs Gusseted Multi Wall Paper Bag Tube Styles
Flat bags have no side expansion and are suitable for compact products with uniform shape.
Gusseted bags include side folds that expand during filling, allowing better pallet stability, higher fill volume, and improved stacking performance.
Multi Wall Paper Bag Sizes, Capacity, and Specifications
Common Multi Wall Paper Bag Sizes
Multi wall paper bags are manufactured in a wide range of standard sizes to accommodate different product volumes and handling requirements. Common sizes are designed to fit pallet standards and automated filling systems used in industrial environments.
Sizes are typically customized based on product density, filling method, and stacking needs rather than fixed consumer dimensions.
Multi Wall Paper Bag Capacity by Weight
10 kg multi wall paper bag:
A 10 kg multi wall paper bag is commonly used for lighter industrial materials, specialty chemicals, food ingredients, or test batches. It is easier to handle manually and requires fewer paper plies.
20 kg multi wall paper bag:
20 kg bags are widely used in agriculture, animal feed, and food ingredient applications. They balance capacity and handling efficiency while remaining compatible with standard pallets.
25 kg multi wall paper bag (common industrial spec):
The 25 kg multi wall paper bag is the most common industrial specification, especially for cement, mortar, fertilizer, and bulk powders. This weight standard aligns with global logistics and warehouse handling practices.

Multi Wall Paper Bag Dimensions and Gusset Depth
Bag dimensions are defined by width, length, and gusset depth. Gusseted designs allow the bag to expand during filling, improving stability and stackability.
Proper gusset depth is critical to ensure the bag stands correctly on pallets and distributes weight evenly during storage and transport.
Multi Wall Paper Bag Paper GSM and Strength Factors
Paper GSM (grams per square meter) directly affects bag strength, tear resistance, and puncture resistance.
Higher GSM papers are used for abrasive or heavy products, while lower GSM papers may be sufficient for lighter or non-abrasive materials.
Strength is also influenced by fiber quality, ply count, and bag construction, not GSM alone.

Good afternoon! My name is Zlata, I represent flour production in Russia.. We are currently looking for a supplier or manufacturer of bags for our request. I will be grateful for your feedback!
We are interested in two types of bags: 10 kg and 25 kg. Strict specifications (dimensions, material are very important):
1) for 10 kg, size:width38*length39*top/bottom13cm
material :outer 1 ply of 80gsm white kraft paper + inner 2 layer 70gsm brown kraft paper + PE liner, total 4 layers
top:external valve
bottom:block bottom
2) for 25 kg:
size:width50*length57*top/bottom13cm
material :outer 1 ply of 80gsm white kraft paper + inner 2 layer 80gsm brown kraft paper + PE liner, total 4 layers
top:external valve
bottom:block bottom
A flap with a turn (with a ultrasonic seal, sealable, adhesive edge).
And we are considering two DIFFERENT scenarios, it depends on you which of these you could do.:
Option 1) we order the smallest possible batch of bags for delivery (with flexographic printing of our label (I also throw the photo here as an example)
Option 2) we buy ordinary white bags for 10 and 25 kg (but with layers and a valve, all according to our technical specifications) – here we are interested in the size of the minimum batch for delivery
I am interested in the price of 1 unit, the minimum batch, and the production time.
Additionally, I will send you a photo of the bag and what layers it should be made of. And also a video of which bags we are working with now. We are looking for a replacement for them and would like to know if it is possible to cooperate with you. I hope I was able to explain clearly what we need. I will be waiting for your reply. Thanks
